Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Solution · 4 marks

  1. 1ax − 2a − x + 2 = a(x − 2) − (x − 2) = (a − 1)(x − 2)
  2. 2a² − 1 = (a − 1)(a + 1)
  3. 3(a − 1)(x − 2)/((a − 1)(a + 1)) = (x − 2)/(a + 1)

Answer(x − 2)/(a + 1)
