The question, in short
Using P = a/(m − x) with x = 8 (1 s.f.), a = 4.6 (2 s.f.) and m = 20 (nearest 10), find the lower bound of P, showing working.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Solution · 4 marks
- 1Bounds: x from 7.5 to 8.5, a from 4.55 to 4.65, m from 15 to 25
- 2Smallest P uses the smallest a and the largest m − x
- 3Largest m − x = 25 − 7.5 = 17.5
- 4P = 4.55 ÷ 17.5 = 0.26
