Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Part (a) · 1 mark
State which of the given time intervals has the highest frequency.
- 1The class with the highest frequency is 50 < L ≤ 60, which has a frequency of 40.
Answer50 < L ≤ 60
Part (b) · 4 marks
Using midpoints of the intervals and the frequencies, calculate an estimate of the mean time for the 120 customers.
- 1Midpoints: 25, 35, 45, 55, 65
- 225 × 6 + 35 × 26 + 45 × 31 = 150 + 910 + 1395
- 355 × 40 + 65 × 17 = 2200 + 1105
- 4Total = 5760
- 5Mean = 5760 ÷ 120 = 48
