The question, in short
Find the perimeter of shaded shape AEBCD, formed by cutting triangle AEB from rectangle ABCD, using AE = 7.2 cm, BE = 5.4 cm, BC = 6 cm and a right angle at E.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Solution · 4 marks
- 1Triangle AEB is right-angled at E, so AB² = 7.2² + 5.4² = 81
- 2AB = √81 = 9, so CD = 9 and DA = BC = 6
- 3Perimeter = AE + EB + BC + CD + DA
- 47.2 + 5.4 + 6 + 9 + 6 = 33.6
