WMA11/01 Jun 2022, Question 1: Integration: Undoing Differentiation
Pearson Edexcel International AS Level Mathematics · Pure Mathematics 1 (WMA11) · Calculator · 4 marks
The question, in short
Integrate 10x⁵ + 6x³ − 3/x² with respect to x and give the result in its simplest form.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Solution · 4 marks
- 1Write 3/x² as 3x⁻²
- 210x⁵ → 10x⁶/6 = (5/3)x⁶
- 36x³ → 6x⁴/4 = (3/2)x⁴
- 4−3x⁻² → −3x⁻¹/(−1) = 3/x
- 5Answer: (5/3)x⁶ + (3/2)x⁴ + 3/x + c
Answer(5/3)x⁶ + (3/2)x⁴ + 3/x + c
