The question, in short

From a bag with four colours, blue has probability 0.24 and yellow 0.31; green is twice red. Find the estimated count of red beads in 180 draws with replacement.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Solution · 4 marks

  1. 1P(red) + P(green) = 1 − (0.24 + 0.31) = 0.45
  2. 2Green is twice red, so red is 1 part of 3: 0.45 ÷ 3 = 0.15
  3. 3Expected reds = 0.15 × 180 = 27
